Transponder Keys

Chipped keys cut, cloned & coded

Transponder Keys

From £95 at your door · £0 call-out

Almost every car since the late 90s has a chip in the key talking to the immobiliser — which is why a £5 copy from a market stall opens the door but won't start the engine. We cut the blade and code the chip, on site.

The keys counters can't cut

High-street heel bars will happily copy the blade — and the car still won't start. Transponder work needs cloning and diagnostic kit, which lives in this van.

Cloned or coded, whichever suits

Where the chip can be cloned from your working key it's quick and cheap. Where the car insists on proper programming, that's done through the OBD port. You get whichever is right, from £95.

Immobiliser faults diagnosed

Key not recognised, flashing immobiliser light, car turning over but never firing — often a chip or antenna-ring fault rather than something expensive. Diagnosed properly before anyone talks about replacements.

Every era covered

Fixed-code chips from the 90s, crypto chips from the 2000s, rolling-code systems in the 2010s — decoded, matched and supplied at the roadside.

Good to know

Common questions.

What is a transponder key?+

A key with a small chip in the plastic head. When you turn the ignition, the car challenges the chip; no valid answer, no start. It's why copied blades from a shoe-repair counter open the door but leave the engine dead — the chip has to be cloned or programmed too.

How do I know if my key has a chip?+

If your car is roughly 1998 or newer, assume it does. A giveaway test: if a bare metal copy of your key won't start the car, the original has a transponder. Send us your reg and we'll confirm exactly what your key is.

How much does a transponder key cost?+

From £95 cut and programmed at your door — versus £200+ typical at a main dealer, plus getting the car there. All-keys-lost transponder jobs start at £160.

My car doesn't recognise the key any more — is the car broken?+

Often it's just the chip, the key's antenna ring, or a low fob battery rather than the car. It's diagnosed at your door — frequently a new coded key fixes what a garage might have called an immobiliser replacement.
